K-Line

EpicIRC K-Line Information

A G-Line or K-Line is a ban from EpicIRC or it's Servers. If you have received a K-Line or G-Line message when logging onto our Network, please use the following codes to determine what has caused us to do so.

If the following information does not assist you please send an email to spam@epicirc.net and someone will respond as soon as they are able.

Code 100:

Your IP address has been used to commit DDoS attacks. Please virus scan your computer and ensure no unauthorized processes are running. This K-Line Code is most often used when an IP address or address block has been involved in a denial of service attack against one of our servers/users. These attacks may be caused by a virus, an insecure system, or by many illegal hacker programs. Attacks of this nature are detremental to our network stability, and in such we cooperate fully with national and local law enforcement agencies to prevent further attacks.

Code 200:

Your computer is advertising/infected with a trojan virus. Please virus scan and ensure no unauthorized processes are running. This K-Line Code is most often used when a user is advertising an infected website or otherwise sending infected files. Using an up-to-date virus scan program can 99% of the time resolve this issue.

Code 300:

This IP address has been used to create too many users. EpicIRC does not allow mass clones/bots on it's network. Please ensure these are not running from your machine or IP address. This K-Line Code is most often used when a user repeatedly attempts to connect more than 3 (three) clients from it's IP address. If you have a special reason you should be allowed more users, please contact an Oper with your request.

Code 400:

Your client is generating spam which disrupts the network. Please e-mail spam@epicirc.net for more information. This K-Line Code is most often used when a user generates various types of spam across the network. This could be in the form of quit messages, private messages, channel messages, or notices. Please respect everyones privacy by not flooding them with useless or UNWANTED information.

Code 500:

This IP has been used to violate general network policies. Please e-mail spam@epicirc.net for more information. This K-Line Code is most often used when a user 'annoys' an Oper. If this has happened to you, relax the ban won't last forever. Write an email to spam@epicirc.net and your name will be removed or you will be told why you were banned. However, any further annoyances could cause a permanent ban.

Code 600:

This IP address has been attempted to login using a banned client. Please e-mail spam@epicirc.net for more information. This K-Line Code is most often used to ban filesharing bots, and is usually issued for 24-72 hours. Unattended bots are not allowed on EpicIRC. Please read our Acceptable Use Policy, or e-mail us for more specific information.
