Fire hit NightCrow!
Last Sunday there was a fire at the computer hall that hosted our master hub and server NightCrow. We have changed service provider and moved NightCrow to another location, hence why EpicIRC has experienced network problems the last 4 days. Everything is up and running again with Services, DNS and web and will hopefully stay so now =). We did not loose any data in the fire, so your nicknames and channels has not been lost. If you have any questions just Contact Us.

Happy Independence Day!
We have made many updates and changes today to resolve multiple small problems with our website as well as the network. An out-of-space issue on our Services server was causing loss of functionality. This has been fixed and no more problems with this system are expected.

Thanks to Darvocet, the repositioning of FrostByte has now been completed and it seems to adapt well to the new network setup. Even though the webpage and DNS service has been moved, FrostByte will, besides the IRC server, continue running the mail server for EpicIRC.
Now we hope that the servers who currently are offline will go up as soon as the opers, located at the different sites, can find the time to look them up and see what needs to be done.

FrostByte is currently down due to server relocation, and the EpicIRC webpage and DNS service have been moved over from FrostByte to NightCrow. Since mailing via php is working from NightCrow without problems, the webpage will not be moved back once FrostByte is up and running again (hopefully in a couple of days). Even though NightCrow has taken over the position as DNS master, FrostByte will still run a DNS server as slave, fetching the DNS record from NightCrow.

Services have now been moved and all the configuration files have been updated. NightCrow seem to handle the workload without any problems.

After a good couple of years hosting Services and running an IRC server, EpicIRC says good bye to our American server (Hydrogen) located in L.A. Due to circumstances it will no longer be a part of the EpicIRC Network. Our Swedish Server and main hub (NightCrow) will from now on be hosting Services and the in-house coded staging scripts
EpicIRC would like to thank RedChina for hosting Hydrogen plus all the effort he has put into it and we look forward to a future with him still active in our oper crew.

EpicIRC says good bye to two of our Swedish servers (OpenBSD and MatsLab) as they no longer will be functioning as IRC-Servers or be linked to our network. All configuration files, websites and links have been updated. Since our Network Hub (NightCrow) is located in Sweden, and Slottet and DustBunny is running from Norway, there will no problem maintaining a fast and reliable connection alternative to people located in northern Europe.
How ever it is always sad when servers/opers have to leave, but we here @ EpicIRC give our best wishes to the Server Admins of both OpenBSD and MatsLab.

EpicIRC has completed another network wide update, and is taking defensive actions to help reduce the number of un-attended bots and netsplits which have been plaguing the network.
We now more than ever are seeking new stable servers. If you run a linux box, and have at least T1 line speed, please send an e-mail to admin@epicirc.net with some general information about your box and line, and we will respond within about 6 hours.
In the meantime, please check the "Network Status" page on this website for current servers. Several of our servers are experiencing ISP related outages, and we are currently working to resolve this with the respective ISPs. We currently have no 'ETA' on when all network servers will be responding properly. Please note that users MAY NOT experience any problems, all Services and Features are intact and have continued to work properly. This notice only refers to a couple of our servers which have been receintly prone to netsplits.
If you have any questions you may always join #Help and speak with a network operator. Please hang out for a while, as we are not always instantly available to help. We WILL however reply ASAP.
